Latest macOS 10.16 release date, news and rumors

The latest Apple operating system for Mac and MacBooks, macOS Catalina, was released, but what about its tracking, macOS 10.16?
You can be sure that Apple is already working with macOS 10.16, which should be launched in 2020.
In fact, it is a safe bet that the release date of macOS 10.16 will be September or October 2020.
We can make this prediction based on the release date of previous versions of macOS. macOS 10.15 (Catalina), released in October 2019, and macOS 10.14 (Mojave), released in September 2018.
So we are still far from the release date of macOS 10.16, but if you are eager to discover what Apple has in store for your future operating system, this guide will gather all the news and rumors of macOS 10.16. We find, with a list of what we want to see in macOS 10.16.

While waiting for the release of macOS 10.16, make sure your Mac or MacBook is running MacOS Catalina. Learn to download the macOS Catalina guide for suggestions.

macOS release date 10.16

We do not know the official release date of macOS 10.16, and we will probably not hear anything from Apple before much of 2020. However, we can guess at least, and in our opinion, it is very likely that the release date of macOS 10.16 is September or October 2020.
As mentioned earlier, we have reasonable confidence in this forecast, with Apple complying with an annual release schedule for its macOS updates, with the latest versions of macOS released in September or October of each year.
According to earlier versions of macOS, we were able to witness the official revelation of macOS 10.16 at the WWDC conference organized by Apple in June 2020. The WWDC (World Developer Conference) is (as it is called). indicates, for software developers, their future macOS (and iOS) operating systems.
In previous years, a new version of macOS is announced, as well as an approximate release date. In addition, Apple generally releases an early beta version of the software shortly thereafter, allowing developers and other brave users to test the software and detect any problems or errors found before launch.
Although that does not mean that Apple adheres to this calendar for macOS 10.16, we would be surprised if it goes too far.

MacOS 10.16 news and rumors

We have not yet heard of macOS 10.16, but as soon as we do, we will add them here.
As for the rumors about Apple in general, we hear a lot about a probable 16-inch MacBook Pro, which would be a larger version of the iconic Apple MacBook Pro laptops with a new improved keyboard.
The latest rumor suggests that the 16-inch MacBook Pro could arrive in 2020. If this is true, it is possible that macOS 10.16 is already installed.
Even if it starts before the release of macOS 10.16, the update to macOS 10.16 should be free when publishing the operating system.

macOS 10.16: what we want to see

So, with macOS 10.16 still in a few moments, what would we like to see in the next version of Apple's operating system?

A stable version

The launch of a new operating system can sometimes be problematic, and although Apple has certainly been more fortunate than Microsoft in this regard (recent Windows 10 updates have caused more problems than not corrected), we also have macOS Catalina problems since its launch
People have had problems downloading and installing macOS Catalina, others cannot use their mouse, check email and more.
Therefore, we would like Apple to really take its time with macOS 10.16, testing it thoroughly and making sure it is free of as many errors and problems as possible. Of course, a major update of an operating system will always be a problem, but we would love it if everyone can upgrade to macOS 10.16 without worrying about breaking something.

The best AirPod support

You can now use your AirPods with your Mac, but macOS 10.16 offers many possibilities to improve compatibility with AirPod, especially with the new AirPod Pro.
The current support is a bit basic and the configuration procedure could be improved to facilitate the connection of your AirPods to your Mac. We hope that Apple's addresses are for macOS 10.16.
See our guide on how to connect AirPods to a Mac to learn how to get started.

A new look and an exciting interface.

We already like the appearance of macOS, but it is tempting to say that if it is not broken, do not fix it, we would like Apple to be a little more adventurous.
For all that we give Microsoft in its Windows 10 updates, at least, it is trying new things regarding the interface. Gradually we have changed the look of Windows 10 with each new version, and most of the time, we like what we have done.
It may be time for Apple to have a bold new vision for macOS.

Lightning path support

We would also like to see support for ray tracing in macOS 10.16. While ray tracing is primarily associated with improving the graphics of the best games at the moment (and it doesn't interest Mac owners), it is also an essential tool for creatives who want to create and render scenes. and 3D animations with realistic lighting.
These creations are often based on Mac and MacBooks. Therefore, the inclusion of the ray tracing function would be very beneficial for them, especially since rivals such as Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition have Nvidia RTX graphics chips capable of handling the ray tracing.
